"Welcome Home Ceremony" at The Woman's Club of Fort Worth- deadline for submissions 3/15/2019
This April The Woman's Club of Fort Worth is teaming up with the Six Flags and Captain Molly Corbin Chapters of the Daughters of the American Revolution under the Auspices of the Department of Defense to host a special "Welcome Home Ceremony" honoring all Vietnam Era Veterans. We invite all members and family/friends who are qualifying veterans to attend.
The USA Vietnam War Commemoration has created this program which provides Commemorative Lapel Pins to partners for dignified public presentations to living Veterans who served during the Vietnam War Era as a lasting memento of the nation's thanks. Living United States veterans who served on active duty in the U.S. Armed Forces at any time during the period of November 1, 1955 to May 15, 1975, regardless of location, are eligible to receive one lapel pin. Those who served during this time are considered to have been serving during the Vietnam War. This ceremony also honors spouses who were married to the qualifying veteran at the time of the veteran’s death. Commemoration of Vietnam War Veterans was authorized in 2008 by Congress in the National Defense Authorization Act.
The Woman's Club of Fort Worth and Daughters of the American Revolution are working together to host this event where these pins will be presented. Remember to contact and register veterans (and spouses of deceased veterans) who served our country between 1955 and 1975 (the Vietnam War) to participate in the April 30th ‘Welcome Home Ceremony’. The official Vietnam Veteran Lapel Pin will be awarded and the presentation of a certificate from the Daughters of the American Revolution will be given during the ceremony in Anna Shelton Hall, Tuesday, April 30th at 10:30 a.m. The ceremony is open to recipients and guests. Please RSVP by sending name, dates served, and branch of service to Bonnie Higgins at firstname.lastname@example.org by the March 15th deadline. Additional information and sign-up forms is available in the business office.
If previously a Commemorative Vietnam War Lapel Pin from the Vietnam War Commemoration/Department of Defense was awarded but not a certificate – participation in the ceremony is still possible – just make the distinction in your email replay.
